ABSTRACT
Key word : Vocabulary Mastery and Reading Recount Text
Reading is one of four language
skills that must be mastered by the English learners. Reading skill is done for
comprehending the content of a text. There
are some factors needed in comprehending an English text. One of the elements
that can support comprehension is vocabulary, because by mastering vocabulary
we can comprehend the English text easily.
This research was held to prove whether or not there
is correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading recount text achievement of Level 1
Term 2 Students at i-tutor.net Course Institution Banyuwangi In The 2014 - 2015 Academic year.
Based on the theoritical views, the hypothesis of this research is there is correlation
between vocabulary mastery and reading recount text achievement of Level 1 Term 2 Students at
i-tutor.net Course Institution Banyuwangi In The 2014 - 2015 Academic year.
The method is used to get the sample of this research
is proportional random sampling and the respondents of the research are the students of
Level 1 Term 2 class consisted of 25 respondents. In order to get the data, the writer used vocabulary and reading
comprehension (reacount text) test. It was in the form of
multiple choice test that consisted of 25 items of
each test. Then the data were analyzed by
using product moment correlation.
Based on the results of the data analysis, the result of
statistical value is 0,42. After consulting the r table, the value is 0,39.
Therefore, it can be concluded that there is correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading recount text
achievement of Level 1 Term 2 Students at i-tutor.net Course Institution
Banyuwangi In The 2014 - 2015 Academic year.
The writer suggests that the course institution should provide and
increase the English books for enriching the students’ English ability, and the English teacher should pay attention to the
technique used in guiding their students to increase their English and to develop the students’ knowledge in learning English.
